Overview
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Packing Operative to join our food production team. This role involves ensuring the accurate and efficient packing of products in accordance with food safety standards, contributing to the smooth operation of our manufacturing process. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining high-quality output and adhering to health and safety regulations, including HACCP protocols. Previous experience in food production or mechanical knowledge is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Carefully pack food products following specified procedures and quality standards
- Ensure all packaging complies with HACCP and food safety regulations
- Operate basic mechanical equipment used in the packing process, with training provided
- Conduct routine quality checks on packed items to identify defects or inconsistencies
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the packing area in line with hygiene standards
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory management as required
- Record production data accurately using basic maths skills for measurements and counts
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors promptly
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food production or packaging is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge or aptitude for operating machinery is a plus
- Basic maths skills for counting, measurements, and record keeping
- Ability to follow strict hygiene and safety protocols at all times
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing production schedules and priorities
