The company :
West End Precision is a family owned high volume manufacturing facility based in Bideford, established for over 50 years and recently embracing the third generation of family management. We believe in a strong work life balance operating 38 hours over a 4 day week, working from Monday to Thursday as standard every week. The business operates with 3 classic disciplines of primary production equipment; conventional CNC lathes, CNC sliding heads and multi-spindle Wickmans. The majority of our customers are based in the UK, with a range of markets including Automotive & Aerospace, hydraulics and braking systems, producing circa 5M components each year. Operating to the IATF 16949 Quality standard is our normal practice, with the highest expectations placed on the quality of all operations regardless of the application.
We have invested in the latest technology machines including WT100, WT150, NTY3-150 Nakamuras and a range of Star Sliding Heads and now need the appropriate skillset to support with these machines. We are seeking a fully qualified CNC lathe setter, competent in Fanuc control on twin spindle or sliding head lathes. We only program at the machines, no off line programming here so you will be responsible for everything from changing bar collets, calibrating bar feeders, setting tooling and writing the programs required to produce the first samples before handing over to an operator.
You will be responsible for:
- Maintaining Timely production of parts to pre-determined deadlines to always ensure that work is carried out to the highest standards, and in a timely manner, in accordance with company procedures
- To ensure safety and quality procedures are adhered to and assist in the improvement processes.
- To take an active role in company initiatives such as continuous improvement, quality initiatives and new manufacturing systems and processes as they are introduced. Plus any other duties deemed appropriate by your supervisor/manager inducing operating of machines where required.
Personal Attributes of the CNC Turner:
- Ideally, the successful candidate will be a time serve Engineer/ Machinist/Toolmaker with a proven track record in the relevant industry
- Good working knowledge and ability to program in Fanac based controls
- Ability to work with and set a variety of machines, Nakamura Tome, Doosan, Dugard and Mazak
- Flexible approach to tasks
- Excellent time management skills and able to prioritise your workload
- You should also be reliable, able to demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks, new methods and procedures.
