Axcis Education is recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a newly established specialist provision in Sutton, South London. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a growing school, helping to shape its future while supporting a small class of Year 7 students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The pupils have a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and non-verbal communication needs. The school offers modern facilities, excellent resources, supportive leadership, and strong transport links.
Key Responsibilities:
As a SEND Teacher, you will:
- Teach a small Year 7 class within a specialist SEND setting
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs
- Adapt teaching strategies in line with each student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Support pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs to achieve their academic and personal goals
- Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment where every learner can thrive
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Monitor progress, celebrate achievements, and support pupils during this important transition into secondary education
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
- Previous experience teaching pupils with SEND within a mainstream school, specialist school, alternative provision, or PRU
- A strong understanding of Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, and additional learning needs
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- A patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach to teaching
- A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping every learner reach their full potential
