Duration: 2nd Sept 2026 - 30th Nov 2026
I am seeking an SRA-regulated solicitor with strong experience in UK employment law to act as my limited-scope correspondence representative while I am on certified sickness absence.
This is a deliberately narrow assignment. I need a regulated employment solicitor to send and receive employment-related emails on my behalf while I am medically unfit to manage ongoing correspondence reliably myself.
Essential Requirements:
1) Must be an SRA-regulated solicitor — please provide your SRA number.
2) Must have demonstrable experience in UK employment law.
3) Experience with workplace grievances, discrimination, reasonable adjustments, whistleblowing and employment disputes is desirable.
4) Must be comfortable working under a strictly limited-scope/unbundled retainer.
5) Must be comfortable reviewing and sending correspondence substantially drafted by the client rather than routinely drafting correspondence from scratch.
6) Must maintain appropriate professional confidentiality.
7) Must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before receiving access to confidential case materials, correspondence, evidence or other sensitive information.
8) Please do not apply if you are not SRA-regulated.
Background:
1) I am employed by a London local authority and am currently on certified sickness absence.
2) I need a professional correspondence representative to maintain continuity while I am medically unfit to deal with these communications directly.
3) Full details, identities and relevant documents will be provided privately following engagement and any necessary conflict checks.
The Role:
1) The primary role is to send and receive emails on my behalf during my sickness absence.
2) I will normally prepare the substantive first draft of outgoing correspondence and provide instructions about the position I wish to communicate.
The solicitor will:
1) Review my draft correspondence before transmission.
Make any amendments reasonably necessary to ensure that correspondence sent under their professional responsibility is appropriate.
2) Obtain my approval before making any material alteration to my substantive position.
3) Send approved correspondence on my behalf.
4) Receive employment-related correspondence on my behalf and forward it to me promptly.
5) Send straightforward administrative acknowledgements where appropriate.
6) Maintain an organised record of incoming and outgoing correspondence.
This is principally an email correspondence assignment, not a full-service litigation retainer.
I will undertake as much of the substantive drafting as my health permits in order to keep the assignment proportionate and costs controlled.
Unless stated otherwise, this role does not include:
- conducting Employment Tribunal proceedings;
- drafting ET pleadings or claims;
- preparing substantial legal submissions from scratch;
- extensive evidence or document review;
- attending hearings;
- attending workplace meetings or investigation interviews;
- preparing the entire grievance appeal;
- providing lengthy standalone written legal opinions; or
- undertaking substantial additional legal work outside the correspondence function.
