Male Support Worker – Adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our small, growing care organisation, supporting local people with learning disabilities to live happy, fulfilling and independent lives.
We are looking for a male Support Worker to support a young gentleman in his own home and within the local community.
This is a male only position due to the nature of the support required, including intimate personal care and the individual circumstances and needs of the person we support.
The successful candidate will be caring, patient, reliable and confident in supporting adults with developmental disabilities. You will help him maintain his independence, access the community and take part in activities that he enjoys.
The role is based around a 2:1 support arrangement, working alongside another support worker and other professionals to provide safe, consistent and person centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide person centred support based on the individual's needs, wishes and desired outcomes.
- Support the individual to live as independently as possible in his own home.
- Provide assistance with personal care while maintaining dignity, privacy and respect.
- Support access to the community and participation in enjoyable activities.
- Drive the individual's mobility vehicle to access activities, appointments and community facilities.
- Support the individual to achieve personal goals, aspirations and increased independence.
- Develop a positive, respectful and trusting relationship with the individual.
- Work effectively as part of a 2:1 support team.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, social workers, care managers and other professionals.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns, including abuse, neglect or exploitation, through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Use good judgement and use appropriate initiative.
- Promote and protect the individual's dignity, rights, choices and wellbeing.
- Reflect on practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the support provided.
About you

- Willing to work within a 2:1 support arrangement.
- A driver with a full, valid UK driving licence.
- Confident and willing to drive a mobility vehicle.
Essential requirements

Pay: £12.82-£13.55 per hour
