Opulence Stoves is looking for an experienced heating, plumbing, gas, electrical, refrigeration or air-conditioning engineer to join our installation team and help develop the air-conditioning side of our business.
You do not need to already be an air-conditioning engineer.
Our lead installation engineer is already a qualified electrician and F-Gas engineer and leads our air-conditioning installations. We are looking for another technically capable tradesperson to work alongside him, initially supporting installations while developing practical competence and contributing across our wider installation programme.
For someone who already holds F-Gas qualifications and can independently install and commission air-conditioning systems, the role and salary will reflect that existing capability.
Who we're looking for
This position could particularly suit an experienced:
- Plumbing & heating engineer
- Gas Safe engineer
- Electrician with heating or controls experience
- Air-conditioning engineer
- Refrigeration engineer
Existing F-Gas or air-conditioning experience is highly desirable but isn't essential if you already bring strong plumbing, heating, gas or electrical skills and have the ability and willingness to train.
The role
Initially, you will work alongside our lead engineer on air-conditioning installations while also contributing to our wider installation programme.
Your work may include:
- Positioning and mounting internal and external AC units
- Pipe and cable routes
- Core drilling
- Trunking and drainage
- Electrical and mechanical installation support
- Learning commissioning requirements
- Twin-wall flue installations
- Built-in stove installations
- Fireplace preparation and associated building work
- Flexible liners and appliance positioning
- Materials, tools, lifting and handling
- Customer handover and maintaining clean, professional work areas
The role is deliberately varied. Your existing skills determine where you start, with the opportunity to develop greater air-conditioning responsibility as your competence and qualifications progress.

You must not independently undertake regulated electrical or refrigerant work unless you hold the appropriate qualifications, certification and authority.
Salary & benefits
Employed: £34,000–£46,000 per year, depending on your existing skills, qualifications and ability to independently undertake air-conditioning work.
- £34,000–£40,000 – experienced plumbing, heating, electrical or refrigeration engineer developing into air conditioning
- £42,000–£46,000 – existing F-Gas qualification and capable of undertaking substantial air-conditioning work independently
- 28 days' paid holiday including bank holidays

A genuine self-employed subcontract arrangement may also be considered at £190–£260 per day, depending on qualifications, independence and responsibility for certified work.
Progression
This role has a clear development route.
You could begin by supporting our existing air-conditioning installations, developing practical competence with units, pipework, cable routes, core drilling, drainage and associated installation work.
From there, progression can move towards F-Gas certification and commissioning knowledge, ultimately allowing you to independently deliver certified air-conditioning installations as this part of the business grows.
If you're already F-Gas qualified and independently delivering this work, you can enter the role at a correspondingly higher level.
Pay: £34,000.00-£46,000.00 per year
