We’re looking for a Harbour Operative to join our Harbour services providing our vital service to residents and visitors throughout the season.
Our Service
Scarborough Harbour offers maritime related services to the commercial, fishing and leisure sectors. Staffed by a 24/7 team, the harbours team deal with all matters including safety, traffic management, maintenance, security and emergency response.
The Role
As our Harbour Operative, you will play a key role in promoting the harbour to both visiting and resident vessels.
You will be responsible for:
- Maintenance and safety checks on the harbour
- Taking payments and issuing security access fobs and electric tokens to owners as necessary
- Undertake general marina maintenance including painting, minor repairs and ensuring cleanliness of the associated facilities and maintaining a safe working harbour environment
- Safely receive visiting leisure vessels and allocation of appropriate berths, collecting dues and dealing with general enquiries, providing appropriate advice.
- Act as a relief watchkeeper covering the watchkeeping staff over holidays and absences as required.
We are looking for someone who knows Scarborough Harbour, enjoys dealing with people and promoting what the harbour has to offer, and has experience in many kinds of manual labour, and of safe working practices.
