THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you an experienced Project Manager looking to work on a major hyperscale project with one of the world's leading technology organisations?
We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Project Manager to join a major project in the South West of the UK, playing a key role in the delivery of critical infrastructure within a technically complex, high-profile environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing international engineering and construction contractor working across the UK and Europe, delivering major projects across Hyperscale, Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Food and Advanced Manufacturing.
You will work alongside industry-leading professionals and have the opportunity to take responsibility for significant project packages while developing your career on one of the region's most exciting construction projects.
THE ROLE
As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a major package or workstream, ensuring it is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
You will coordinate teams across construction, engineering, commercial, planning, quality and commissioning while managing key client and project stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Delivery
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of a major project package or workstream.
- Manage delivery against programme, budget, quality and safety objectives.
- Coordinate construction, engineering, commercial, quality and commissioning activities.
- Monitor progress and implement recovery plans where required.
- Drive accountability and delivery excellence across the project team.
Commercial & Contract Management
- Support budget management, forecasting, cost control and variations.
- Manage subcontractor performance against contractual requirements.
- Identify and manage project risks, opportunities and change.
- Support variations, compensation events and extension-of-time claims.
- Assist with project close-out and final account processes.
Planning & Programme
- Develop and maintain project delivery programmes alongside the planning team.
- Monitor progress against key milestones and client requirements.
- Manage critical-path activities and project constraints.
- Drive programme certainty and proactive recovery.
- Lead and participate in regular progress and project review meetings.
Design & Technical Coordination
- Coordinate design activities between consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
- Ensure design deliverables meet project and programme requirements.
- Review technical submissions and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Support value engineering and buildability initiatives.
- Coordinate effectively across design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Champion a strong safety-first culture across the project.
- Proactively identify and manage project risks and hazards.
- Ensure works meet required quality standards.
- Support inspections, audits and quality assurance processes.
- Lead by example across health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear updates on progress, risks and deliverables.
- Coordinate effectively with internal departments.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
Leadership
- Lead, motivate and support project and site teams.
- Develop a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Coach and mentor engineers, supervisors and project staff.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation across project delivery.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers who have a strong background in large-scale construction or engineering projects.
Essential Experience
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction or engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project controls and contract administration.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders within complex project environments.
- Strong programme, commercial and risk-management awareness.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
Experience within any of the following sectors would be highly advantageous:
- Hyperscale / Data Centres
- Mission Critical
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical
- Industrial / Manufacturing
- Logistics
- High-Tech Construction
Experience with commissioning and project handover would also be beneficial.
