QUANTITY SURVEYOR
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the commercial management of allocated projects, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with contractual, financial and company requirements. The role takes ownership of day-to-day commercial activities whilst continuing professional development towards a Senior Quantity Surveyor position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Manage subcontract procurement activities for allocated projects.
- Prepare and issue tender enquiries.
- Analyse quotations and prepare tender comparisons.
- Negotiate subcontract packages and commercial terms.
- Develop procurement schedules aligned to project programmes.
- Manage subcontractor onboarding and compliance requirements.
- Chair or contribute to subcontractor pre-start meetings.
Cost Management & Reporting
- Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts.
- Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Prepare monthly cost reports and financial forecasts.
- Manage subcontractor accounts and contra charges.
- Assess and certify subcontractor applications for payment.
- Issue payment notices and pay less notices.
Valuations & Client Accounts
- Measure and value completed works.
- Prepare and submit client applications for payment.
- Manage variations and compensation events.
- Support negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
- Assist with cash flow management and recovery of payments.
Commercial Management
- Manage commercial aspects of assigned projects.
- Maintain contractual and project commercial records.
- Implement change control procedures.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution activities.
- Ensure commercial compliance with company procedures.
Project Delivery Support
- Attend sites and project meetings regularly.
- Work closely with Contracts Managers and Site Teams.
- Support programme, procurement and cost management decisions.
- Assist with project handover and commercial close-out activities.
Leadership & Development
- Support and mentor Junior Quantity Surveyors.
- Share knowledge and best practice within the team.
- Promote commercial awareness across project teams.
- Continue professional and technical development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Experience working within a Quantity Surveying role.
- Knowledge of JCT contracts and subcontract administration.
- Good understanding of construction methodologies.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Strong IT and reporting capability.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
