Barista-Trained Front of House Team Member
Doux Chaton – Manchester
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Location: Doux Chaton, Manchester
Pay: Competitive hourly rate + share of tips/service charge
About Doux Chaton
Doux Chaton is a Vietnamese restaurant built around family, food and hospitality. Our menu is inspired by recipes passed through generations, combining Vietnamese comfort food with a playful, modern approach.
We want our guests to feel genuinely looked after — not simply served.
We are looking for a confident, friendly and experienced Front of House Team Member with barista training who can move comfortably between restaurant service and the coffee bar.
The Role
This is a hybrid Front of House and Barista position.
You’ll be responsible for delivering warm, attentive service throughout the guest journey while also preparing consistently high-quality coffees and drinks.
You should enjoy speaking to people, working in a busy environment and taking ownership of the space around you.
We are looking for someone who notices the little things — an empty glass, a table that needs clearing, a guest looking for help, or a coffee that isn’t quite right — and acts without needing to be asked.
Key Responsibilities
Front of House
- Welcome guests warmly and create a positive first impression.
- Take orders accurately and confidently explain the menu.
- Make recommendations and help guests discover dishes, drinks and desserts.
- Deliver food and drinks efficiently and professionally.
- Check back with guests and respond quickly to requests.
- Clear, clean and reset tables throughout service.
- Maintain excellent cleanliness and organisation across the restaurant.
- Process payments and confidently use the till/POS system.
- Support takeaway and delivery orders when required.
- Understand allergens and communicate dietary requirements correctly with the kitchen.
- Help create the friendly, generous hospitality Doux Chaton wants to be known for.
Barista
- Prepare espresso-based drinks including espresso, Americano, flat white, latte and cappuccino.
- Steam and texture milk correctly for different drinks.
- Prepare alternative milks confidently.
- Dial in espresso and monitor coffee quality throughout the shift.
- Maintain consistency in drink presentation and recipes.
- Keep the coffee station clean, stocked and organised.
- Clean coffee equipment correctly, including the espresso machine and grinders.
- Assist with cold drinks, teas and other beverages where required.
- Work efficiently during busy periods without sacrificing quality.
What We’re Looking For
You should have:
- Previous front of house or hospitality experience.
- Previous barista training or experience working with a commercial espresso machine.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced restaurant or café.
- Strong communication skills and a naturally welcoming personality.
- Good attention to detail.
- A clean, organised approach to working.
- The ability to prioritise tasks during busy services.
- A willingness to learn our food, drinks and Vietnamese ingredients.
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong sense of personal accountability.
- The ability to work collaboratively with both FOH and kitchen teams.
What Great Looks Like at Doux Chaton
Great hospitality isn’t just taking an order correctly.
It means noticing what a guest needs before they have to ask.
It means knowing the menu well enough to make a brilliant recommendation.
It means taking pride in the restaurant even when something isn’t technically “your job”.
And it means treating every guest as though they have chosen to spend part of their day in our home.
We want team members who are warm, observant, proactive and proud of what they serve.
What We Offer
- Share of tips/service charge.
- Staff food and drinks while working.
- Training across our food, coffee and drinks menus.
- Opportunities to develop within a growing independent hospitality business.
- A creative environment where ideas and personality are encouraged.
- Opportunities to learn more about Vietnamese food, speciality coffee and hospitality.
- Staff discounts across the business.

Applicants should be comfortable working a mixture of:
- Weekdays
