Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers and enhance the learning experience of pupils within a primary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with children, including those with special educational needs, to foster an inclusive and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons tailored to pupils’ individual needs.
- Support children with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilities, ensuring they access the curriculum effectively.
- Provide one-to-one or small group tutoring and mentoring to reinforce learning objectives.
- Help manage behaviour and promote positive interactions among pupils to create a respectful classroom atmosphere.
- Support pupils with personal care when required, ensuring their wellbeing and safety at all times.
- Prepare classroom materials and resources to facilitate smooth lesson delivery.
- Monitor and record pupils’ progress, providing feedback to teachers regarding their development.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages confidence, independence, and social skills among pupils.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable.
- Knowledge of special education needs, particularly working with individuals with disabilities or autism, is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pupils, teachers, and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to work patiently and empathetically with children of varying abilities.
- Passion for teaching, mentoring, and supporting young learners’ development.
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or special educational needs are preferred but not essential.
