We are looking to recruit a new team member for a position at our residential Support Services, based in Southbourne. We are looking for a part- or full- time colleague to work up to 35hrs (up to 5 days/week) which must include Saturdays (08:30-17:30hrs).
This vacancy is split over two of our services, both in the Southbourne area. At one service this is to replace a great team member moving onto new challenges and at the other it is to compliment the existing team. It is initially important that we fill the role for Saturday staff at one service, they will then be able to decide how many hours hours they want to work and this may leave hours for a second part-timer, but this will be confirmed only after this role is filled.
Our clients have mental health issues and /or learning difficulties. We help them to maximise independence whilst being in a safe and supportive homely environment.
Our services cover a range of skill levels from those needing full support to those brushing-up on independent living skills with the aim of living independently in the future
Quality of life is important and we strive to engage clients in interesting and social activities as well as maximising life skills.
We do not provide any hands-on care to our clients but there is a proportion of this role at one of the services that is meal preparation (for up to 18 people) and some routine day-to-day household tasks. Mainly though, our role is spending time with our residents, encouraging engagement and interaction in line with their support plans and individual needs.
Some experience in support work would be beneficial, but not essential. We have a thorough induction process and all new staff are shadowed until they show ability to complete the role and they themselves are happy to work with decreasing supervision
Staff do not work evenings nor provide any night cover, shifts are generally 8-3 or 11-6 (although weekends are different, see above)
Successful candidates will have good literacy skills as there are records to be kept, logging, support planning, keyworking etc.
All staff must be DBS checked, but we will organise this for the successful candidate if necessary
