Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home, Cullompton

As Deputy Manager you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Registered Manager to help shape the culture of the home, lead a small staff team and create a safe, supportive and homely family environment for the young people in our care.

Key responsibilities include:
- Working alongside the Registered Manager to oversee the daily running of the home
- Leading, supervising and developing a small team to maintain consistently high standards of care
- Stepping up to oversee the home and team confidently in the manager’s absence
- Developing, reviewing and implementing care plans, risk assessments and paperwork tailored to each young person’s individual needs
- Ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining accurate, high-quality documentation
- Supporting young people with daily routines, education, appointments and activities
- Helping create a normal, homely environment – cooking, shopping, days out and holidays
- Conducting staff supervisions and contributing to the on-call rota to provide guidance and support to the team
- A balance of shift work (including sleep-ins), admin days and on-call duties
- Decision making and contributing to the wider development of the home

About You
- Passionate about supporting better futures for children and young people in residential childcare
- At least 1 year’s experience in a role supervising or managing staff in a care setting (mainly or solely providing care for children)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, support and develop a team
- Confidence to oversee the home and team in the manager’s absence
- Experience creating and reviewing care plans, risk assessments and supporting documentation
- Strong resilience, empathy and communication skills
- Organised, energising and fun to be around
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the home – 39 hours per week made up of shift work (including sleep-ins), admin days, hybrid arrangements and on-call duties
- Full UK Driving Licence (automatic licence acceptable – company cars provided)
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification (essential)
- Level 5 in Leadership and Management (desirable but not essential)
