Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Care Home Manager to support the effective running of our care home at The Elms Residential Home. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in elderly and specialised care, including dementia and Alzheimer's care and have experience in the same role. This role offers an opportunity to lead a compassionate team, ensuring the highest standards of person-centred care are delivered. The Deputy Care Home Manager will work closely with the Home Manager to oversee daily operations, promote a positive environment, and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements. There will be an expectation that the Deputy Care Home Manager will work alongside the care team and Seniors and an expectation of working ocassional weekends is required
Duties
- Assist the Home Manager in the overall management and organisation of the care home, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Supervise and support care staff, fostering a team-oriented environment that promotes excellent standards of care.
- Oversee the development and implementation of personalised care plans for residents, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Ensure medication administration is carried out accurately and safely in accordance with legal and organisational policies.
- Lead on compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding procedures, and quality standards.
- Support staff training programmes, including inductions and ongoing professional development related to senior care and home care services.
- Monitor residents' wellbeing, behaviour, and progress, adjusting care approaches as necessary to meet individual needs.
- Liaise effectively with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to coordinate comprehensive resident support.
- Contribute to maintaining an organised administrative system for documentation, audits, and reports.
Skills
- Proven experience within residential home environments; senior care and dementia care experience is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership qualities with previous supervising or management experience in a care home setting.
- Knowledge of care planning processes, medication administration, audits and compliance with relevant legislation such as CQC standards.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Compassionate approach combined with excellent communication skills to support residents’ dignity and independence.
- Ability to motivate and develop a team whilst maintaining high standards of person-centred care.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s disease management strategies and home care practices is advantageous.
