Stonemason – Self-Employed | Heritage & Conservation Work

About the Role
We’re a specialist heritage masonry contractor with a strong and growing pipeline of conservation work across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. We’re looking for an experienced stonemason to join us on a self-employed basis, with regular work available now and genuine potential for increased hours as contracts develop.
The work is primarily traditional stonework — church conservation, listed buildings, and heritage repair — so a background in lime mortars, natural stone, and sensitive repair techniques is a real advantage.
What the Work Involves
- Repair and conservation of natural stonework on historic and listed buildings• Lime mortar pointing, consolidation, and stone replacement• Working to drawings, specifications, and conservation briefs• Occasional masonry in other contexts depending on contract
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a stonemason — minimum 3 years• Familiarity with lime-based materials and heritage repair methods preferred• CSCS card (Blue or above)• Able to work independently and take ownership on site• Reliable, quality-focused, and comfortable working in a small, professional team• Own tools and transport preferred
