IMH Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Household Planning Officer for our client in Bolton, BL1.
The role was previously known as Assistant Development Officer and is effectively the same position.
The Role:
As a Household Planning Officer, you will support the Planning Service by assessing and managing householder and minor planning applications, providing advice and working with planning officers, customers and other stakeholders.
Main Duties:
- Assess, review, negotiate and make recommendations on householder and minor planning applications, enquiries and appeals.
- Provide advice and information on planning applications, enforcement and related matters.
- Support Planning Officers with planning policy documents, development briefs and the Local Development Framework.
- Provide technical support to Planning Officers and Principal Planning Officers.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure work is completed in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards.
- Contribute to service improvements and performance targets.
- Use appropriate IT systems and software to support planning activities.
- Develop effective working relationships with Council departments, elected members, colleagues and customers.
- Manage your own workload and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Carry out other duties as required by the Planning Management Team.
Essential Requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of planning, sustainable development and regeneration.
- Ability to provide advice using relevant technical knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify key issues, consider options and make recommendations.
- Strong negotiation and conflict-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Good knowledge of IT systems and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and cross-agency teams.
- At least 2 years' experience in a working environment.
- Experience of applying relevant legislation or working within the planning, property, regeneration or sustainable development sector.
Qualifications:
Candidates should ideally have an HNC, HND, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification, providing a route towards a relevant planning, spatial data, planning strategy, building or environmental science degree or other relevant qualification.
Additional Requirement:
This is an essential car user post, so applicants must:
- Hold a full, current and valid UK driving licence.
- Have access to a vehicle with a valid MOT.
- Have appropriate business-use vehicle insurance in line with Council requirements.
Hours & Pay:
- Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm
- Pay: £14.81 per hour
- Payment: Weekly pay via agency!
