Are you a graduate, aspiring primary teacher or experienced Teaching Assistant looking to gain valuable hands-on experience supporting a child with additional needs?
A fantastic opportunity has arisen at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lewisham, South East London, for a Year 2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join the school from September on a long-term basis, continuing until July 2027.
You will be working closely with a lovely Year 2 girl who has Autism and Global Developmental Delay. She has fantastic behaviour and is a happy and engaging pupil who requires consistent support throughout the school day to access learning, develop her independence and get the most from her time at school.
She is currently working at P Level, so you will play an important role in helping her access an adapted curriculum and develop academically, socially and personally. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team, providing encouragement, structure and one-to-one assistance where required.

The successful Year 2 SEND Teaching Assistant will ideally have:
· A degree or relevant experience working with children
· A genuine interest in pursuing a career in primary education
· Experience working with children with SEND is desirable but not essential
· An understanding of Autism and/or Global Developmental Delay would be advantageous
· A patient, caring and nurturing approach
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· The ability to build a strong rapport with children
· A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
· The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
