Baby Godiva Project Lead

Contract Type: 2 years
Location: 10 Napier st, Coventry, CV1 5PR
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9:30 – 2:00. Occasional work in lieu at weekends or evenings for fundraising and event support.
Additional Requirements: This role will require a DBS check.

About Baby Godiva
Baby Godiva is a registered Coventry-based charity committed to ensuring babies and young children living in hardship are clean, dry, and fed. We provide essential items, from nappies, wipes, formula, and clothes, to cots and pramsto families in crisis. We receive referrals from frontline professionals such as midwives, social workers, and health visitors, and we also accept self-referrals from families.
Our team works with urgency, compassion, and integrity to meet the growing need across the city. We’re a small but mighty organisation making a big difference and we’re looking for someone who shares our values and can help us deliver vital support with heart, professionalism, and practical sense.
About this Role
Purpose of Role:We’re looking for a practical and compassionate Baby Bank Coordinator to join our team. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be managing incoming donations, maintaining a safe and organised warehouse, contacting families to assess requests, and working with professionals and community groups to keep stock flowing.
This role would suit someone with a background in social care or frontline support who understands the complexity of poverty and can respond with empathy. We need someone who’s emotionally intelligent, alert to safeguarding, and able to balance care with boundaries.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Stock Management & Warehouse Operations
- Oversee the safe receipt, checking, and sorting of all donations, ensuring they are clean, safe, and appropriate for use. Maintain an organised, safe, and efficient warehouse, ensuring high volumes of stock are stored and rotated effectively. Pack parcels of essential baby items based on assessed needs. Assist with or coordinate deliveries, including stepping in when volunteer drivers are unavailable.
Volunteer Management
- Oversee the day-to-day management of volunteers, ensuring tasks are clearly defined and their time is used productively. Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract new volunteers Create and maintain a volunteer database, tracking availability, skills, and engagement. Deliver volunteer induction sessions and ongoing training as needed. Build a welcoming and inclusive volunteer culture, ensuring volunteers feel valued and motivated.
Referral Assessments
- Contact families who request support and carry out assessments over the phone with empathy and professional curiosity. Make fair, informed decisions about support based on need, context, and safeguarding concerns. Work closely with referring professionals (e.g., health visitors, midwives, social workers) to gather relevant background and ensure joined-up support.
Community Engagement and Donation Generation
- Create and manage donation appeals through social media and local campaigns. Build relationships with local businesses, schools, and organisations to encourage item drives and sponsorships. Support one-off and seasonal fundraising and community engagement activities. Represent Baby Godiva by speaking at schools, community groups, and local businesses to promote our mission and encourage support.
Administrative & Team Duties
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, referrals, and assessments. Input data into our CRM system Contribute to the safe and smooth day-to-day running of Baby Godiva’s operations.
We work closely with our sister charity Clothing Coventry. Occasionally, you may be required to help cover tasks and work there, and the team from Clothing Coventry are available to cover the post holders annual leave and time out the office etc.
About You: Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience in a frontline role supporting people experiencing poverty, hardship or crisis (e.g. social work, housing, family support). Comfortable making judgement-based decisions while remaining respectful and professional. Strong understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable families and confident speaking to people in distress or with limited English. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Physically capable of lifting and moving items such as prams, cots, and boxes of clothing. Confident liaising with professionals and community stakeholders. Emotionally resilient and able to maintain clear professional boundaries. Full, clean driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working with or alongside midwives, health visitors, social workers or similar professionals. Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures. Experience using databases or CRM systems. Experience in donation-based or community-focused charity work.
