About the Woodman
The Woodman is an independent pub with eleven letting rooms on Durnsford Road, a few minutes from Wimbledon Park station. It is a genuine local - enough so that it has been listed as an Asset of Community Value, which means the community formally recognised it as worth protecting.
We are not a pub company. There is no regional manager, no head office brand book and no centrally dictated range. The person who runs this site decides how it trades.
The role
We are looking for a General Manager to take full charge of the business - wet, food, rooms and events.
Full profit and loss responsibility across all revenue lines, including the eleven letting rooms
Recruiting, training and leading the team
Setting the drinks range, the food offer and the trading calendar
Cellar management, stock control, GP and margin
Compliance - licensing, health and safety, food safety and fire
Building the pub's standing locally
Who we are looking for
Experience as a General Manager, Deputy or strong Assistant General Manager in a pub, gastropub or small hotel
Comfortable running rooms alongside a busy bar and kitchen, or ready to learn the rooms side properly
A grasp of the numbers - GP, wage percentage, stock results - not just the floor
Personal Licence holder, or willing to obtain one
Someone who wants to run a site as their own rather than administer someone else's model
What we offer
45,000 to 52,000 per year plus a performance-related bonus
