Sub-Cool FM is looking for an experienced and motivated Air Conditioning Service & Maintenance Engineer to join our growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality service, maintenance and reactive support across a range of commercial air-conditioning systems.
The role covers sites throughout the South West of England and parts of Wales, providing the opportunity to work independently while developing strong, long-term relationships with our clients.
You will have responsibility for managing your own workload on assigned contracts, carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing and reactive repairs to a high standard.
Our dedicated Service & Maintenance team manages the scheduling of PPM visits and reactive works, working closely with you to ensure contracts are delivered effectively, clients are kept up to date and all planned maintenance is completed within the required timescales.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, inspections and reactive repairs across commercial air-conditioning systems.
- Service and maintain split, multi-split, twin, triple, VRF and VRV systems.
- Diagnose faults and undertake effective fault-finding and repairs.
- Repair or replace defective components, including compressors, fans, filters, controls and associated system components.
- Attend reactive call-outs and respond professionally to customer requirements.
- Work independently across a portfolio of client sites, taking ownership of the work assigned to you.
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients and site contacts.
- Work closely with the Service & Maintenance team to ensure contracts are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Complete PPM and service reports accurately and within the required timescales using our CLIK CRM system.
- Identify potential system issues and communicate recommendations for remedial works where appropriate.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship, presentation and customer service at all times.
- Support and provide guidance to junior engineers when required.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in air-conditioning service and maintenance.
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial air-conditioning systems.
- Proven experience carrying out comprehensive PPM and servicing.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working on VRF/VRV and multi-system installations.
- Experience undertaking reactive repairs and breakdowns.
- The ability to diagnose complex system faults and identify appropriate remedial solutions.
- Experience carrying out more advanced maintenance and repair work, including fan scrolls, component replacement and full system strip-downs where required.
- The ability to work confidently and independently in a live commercial environment.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- A professional and customer-focused approach.
- The ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and the Service & Maintenance team.
- The ability to work independently while knowing when to seek support or escalate an issue.
- A willingness to travel across the South West and parts of Wales.

You will be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and dealing directly with clients. You should take pride in your workmanship and have the experience and confidence to diagnose problems rather than simply identify them.
