About the Role
Grounds maintenance provides an essential service in ensuring public spaces are safe, clean, and well-maintained. As a Grounds Maintenance Operative (Manual Labour GM), you will support the maintenance of parks, open spaces, and public areas, helping to deliver high-quality outdoor environments for the local community. The role involves a range of manual grounds maintenance and general labouring duties while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out general grounds maintenance duties across parks, open spaces, and public areas
- Maintaining green spaces and outdoor areas to a high standard
- Using manual tools and grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively
- Undertaking general labouring tasks as required
- Keeping work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times
- Following health and safety procedures and safe working practices
- Completing tasks and duties as directed by supervisors
- Supporting the wider grounds maintenance team to deliver an effective service
- Ensuring tools and equipment are used correctly and maintained appropriately
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious individual with experience in outdoor manual work and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or general manual labour
- Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and punctual approach to work
- Right to work in the UK
- Successful interview completion
- Up-to-date CV
- Two satisfactory written references
- Willingness to undertake relevant training where required
- Commitment to equal opportunities and safe working practices
Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Experience working for a local authority or public sector organisation
- Experience using grounds maintenance equipment and hand tools
- Relevant licences, qualifications, or certifications where applicable
