Brickwork and blockwork (day-to-day)
The role (overview):
You’ll be a hands-on Bricklayer working on domestic projects including extensions, alterations, and adaptation works. You’ll be expected to work safely, keep a high standard of finish, and coordinate with the Site Manager/Project Manager and other trades to keep programmes moving.
Key responsibilities:
- Lay bricks and blocks to line, level, and gauge
- Build and repair walls, piers, and small structural elements as required
- Set out work accurately from drawings, levels, and site measurements
Openings, lintels, and making good
- Form openings for doors/windows and complete associated making-good works
- Install/bed lintels where required (in line with drawings/spec)
- Work neatly around existing structures, especially on refurbishment projects
Finishing standards and details
- Deliver clean, consistent joints and a tidy finish
- Complete features such as soldier courses and neat reveals where required
- Protect finished work and maintain good housekeeping on site
Adaptation works (DFG and private)
- Support adaptation projects such as door widening, small extensions/alterations, and external works
- Work respectfully in occupied homes and around vulnerable clients
Health & safety and compliance
- Work safely at all times and follow site RAMS and company procedures
- Maintain a safe work area, manage materials safely, and reduce dust/debris
- Flag any issues early (access, structural concerns, defects, missing info)
Teamwork and site coordination
- Coordinate with labourers and other trades to maintain workflow
- Communicate progress and material needs to the Site Manager
- Support site productivity by planning work efficiently and reducing waste
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer (domestic work preferred)
- Confident with brickwork and blockwork, setting out, and working from drawings
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
- Own tools
Desirable
- Experience on adaptation works (DFG), social housing, or council framework projects
- CSCS (or willingness to obtain)
- DBS Enhanced Check
- Experience with facing brickwork and neat detailing

Working Hours:
- Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm
- Ability to work some Saturdays and holidays (dependent on capacity and need)
