We are a well-established independent garage seeking a skilled and reliable MOT Tester to join our experienced team.
This role would suit someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work, is comfortable working independently, and enjoys being part of a supportive and professional workshop environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests to a high and consistent standard, as well as carry out basic MOT repairs such as bulb and wiper blade replacement etc. Although support and guidance are always available from colleagues, you will be expected to manage your own workload and work independently on a day-to-day basis.
Our workshop operates at a fast pace, and team members are expected to contribute positively and professionally at all times. We understand that not every job goes smoothly and value clear communication, honesty, and teamwork.
This is not a public-facing role, and we do not operate a target-based system.
Essential requirements:
· Experienced and comfortable testing a broad range of vehicle makes, models, and sizes
· Full class 4 and 7 MOT license and driving license
· Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a busy workshop environment
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· Have a responsible and safety-conscious approach, including seeking assistance when required
Desirable (but not essential):
· Experience in a main dealer or specialist setting
· Class 1 and 2 MOT license
· Tools and experience to carry out occasional basic repairs (eg. Brake and suspension replacements, servicing, etc)
Hours and benefits:
· Salary from £39,500 per annum, with scope for increase subject to performance
· Monday to Friday only
· 8:00am – 6:00pm, 45 hours/week (other hours considered)
· Overtime available and recorded via clock-in system
· 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
The successful applicant will be subject to a probationary period of six months.
