Tree Surveyor – Network Rail Contract (Day Rate)
We are looking for an experienced Tree Surveyor to join our team on an ongoing Network Rail vegetation survey contract.
This role involves carrying out tree and vegetation surveys across the Network Rail infrastructure, identifying trees and vegetation that could pose a current or future risk to the railway. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately recording findings and providing recommendations in line with Network Rail standards.

The role requires travel throughout the UK as projects demand, with occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake tree and vegetation surveys on Network Rail infrastructure.
- Identify trees and vegetation that present existing or potential future risks to the railway.
- Assess tree condition, defects and potential hazards.
- Record survey information accurately using the required systems and procedures.
- Work safely in accordance with Network Rail standards and site-specific requirements.
- Walk approximately 2–3 miles per day across varied terrain and in all weather conditions.
- Travel to different locations across the UK, with occasional overnight stays where required.
Essential Requirements
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) qualification (essential).
- One of the following arboricultural qualifications:
- PTI (Professional Tree Inspection)
- BTI (Basic Tree Inspection)
- Level 3 Arboriculture (or equivalent)
- Previous experience carrying out arboricultural or tree condition surveys.
- Good understanding of tree defects, risk assessment and vegetation management.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.
