Join BD Group as a Trade Supervisor and play a key role in delivering high-quality responsive repairs and maintenance services across Barking & Dagenham.
We’re looking for an experienced supervisor from a social housing, repairs, maintenance or construction background who can lead operatives and subcontractors, ensure works are completed to a high standard and provide excellent customer service to residents and stakeholders.
THE ROLE
As Trade Supervisor, you will oversee reactive repairs from first report through to completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with quality standards.
You will be responsible for supervising operatives and contractors, carrying out inspections, monitoring performance and ensuring repairs are completed within agreed timescales.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise reactive repairs and work-in-progress activities
- Manage directly employed operatives and specialist subcontractors
- Conduct pre-inspections, post-inspections and quality assurance checks
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity and KPIs
- Raise, allocate and track repair work orders
- Work closely with scheduling and operational teams
- Resolve resident queries and complaints professionally
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and onboarding support
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures
- Support service improvement initiatives and operational performance
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
- Relevant trade qualification
- Experience supervising repairs, maintenance or construction teams
- Strong knowledge of domestic property repairs
- Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Experience within social housing
- Damp and mould diagnostic experience
- Knowledge of schedules of rates
- Budget management experience
- Project management experience
