Salary: £33,000 (pro rata) per annum (£33,000 FTE)
Contract: Fixed Term (01/09/2026 to 28/02/2029)
Hours: 35 hours per week. Flexibility in working pattern, in agreement with line manager
Based: Chimney Meadows, West Oxfordshire and Bury Knowle House, Headington, with travel to other sites. Hybrid working is available.

The Fen Futures Project Officer will help nature recover by delivering a project focused on conserving endangered invertebrates of lowland alkaline fen habitats, including the Southern Damselfly and three species of soldierflies.
This role will be employed by BBOWT but delivered jointly with staff from BBOWT and the Freshwater Habitats Trust (FHT). Work will be carried out on sites managed by BBOWT or FHT.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering habitat management, surveys and assisting DNA sampling across fen sites
- Planning and implementing work programmes across BBOWT and FHT sites
- Managing contractors, volunteers and project resources
- Monitoring, recording and reporting progress to funders and partners
- Supporting engagement through walks, talks and other communications
What we’re looking for
- Experience or understanding of ecological principles and habitat management
- Ability to plan and deliver practical conservation work in wetland environments for both volunteers and contractors
- Strong project management skills including planning, budgeting and contractor oversight
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel between sites
