Mitie is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Lab Support Coordinator to join our Life Sciences team supporting one of the world's leading pharmaceutical manufacturers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to progress from a laboratory support role into their first people leadership position, while remaining hands-on and actively involved in laboratory operations.
You'll play a key role in ensuring critical laboratory support services run smoothly every day, coordinating activities across multiple laboratory areas while helping develop team capability, service resilience and continuous improvement.
No two days are the same. From managing laboratory consumables and coordinating laboratory support activities to supporting audits, equipment qualification testing and customer interactions, you'll be at the heart of delivering an exceptional service.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Lab Support Coordinator, you'll combine practical laboratory support with team coordination responsibilities, including:
Coordinating daily laboratory support activities across multiple departments
Planning resource allocation to ensure service delivery and operational resilience
Supporting training, development and competency management within the team
Managing laboratory consumables, stock control and replenishment activities
Coordinating eluent, reagent and mobile phase preparation
Overseeing retained sample management including receipt, archiving and disposal
Supporting third-party contractor activities within laboratory areas
Performing equipment performance qualification (PQ) testing and associated documentation
Conducting workplace inspections, L1 audits and supporting continuous improvement activities
Driving high standards of housekeeping, compliance and 5S practices
Acting as deputy for the Lab Support Manager when required
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and ready to take ownership.
You may already be coordinating activities informally within your team and are now looking for the opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a supportive environment.
Essential:
A-level, Higher or equivalent qualification in a science-related subject or Experience working within a laboratory environment
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Confidence working within regulated environments and following procedures
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
Desirable:
Experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences or GxP-regulated environments
Exposure to stock management, laboratory equipment checks or sample management
Experience supporting training, scheduling or coordinating team activities
An interest in people leadership and continuous improvement
