Leisure Multi-Skilled Operative – Trades & Operatives
Hours: 7.5 Hours Per Day
Contract: 109 Days Temporary Contract

We're recruiting Leisure Multi-Skilled Operatives to support day-to-day maintenance and repair services across 8 leisure centres in the London Borough of Southwark. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with practical multi-trade maintenance experience who is reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining safe, operational and high-quality leisure facilities.
About the Role:
As a Leisure Multi-Skilled Operative, you'll carry out a range of skilled maintenance and repair duties across eight leisure centres. You'll be responsible for completing plumbing, carpentry, painting, basic electrical tasks and general building fabric repairs, ensuring maintenance issues are addressed promptly, safely, and to the required standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and repairs across eight leisure centres
- Completing plumbing, carpentry, painting and basic electrical tasks
- Undertaking general building fabric repairs and maintenance
- Responding to maintenance issues and helping keep facilities safe and operational
- Working with centre managers, contractors and facilities management teams to support effective service delivery
- Following Health & Safety, fire safety and relevant building regulations
- Carrying out work at height safely and in accordance with required procedures
- Supporting statutory compliance across the leisure facilities
- Maintaining high standards across all leisure facilities
- Completing work professionally and within agreed timescales
Requirements:
We're looking for experienced multi-skilled maintenance and trades professionals who are practical, reliable, organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidates must have relevant trade qualifications and practical experience across multiple maintenance disciplines.
You'll Ideally Have:
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or an equivalent qualification
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification OR City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Multi-Skills or equivalent
- Practical experience in multi-trade maintenance and repairs
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- Good knowledge of building regulations and fire safety standards
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Ability to work at height
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, organised and able to manage workloads effectively
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in leisure centres or similar public-facing facilities would be advantageous
- Experience working alongside contractors and facilities management teams would be beneficial
- Enhanced DBS clearance, where required
