We're looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Retail Supervisor to help lead the day-to-day operation of our thriving plant area and shop. If you have a passion for plants, enjoy delivering exceptional customer service and have experience supervising a retail team, we'd love to hear from you.
Working closely with the General Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring our plant area and shop are beautifully presented, well stocked and offer an outstanding shopping experience for every customer. This is a hands-on role where you'll lead by example, support colleagues and help drive sales through excellent merchandising, plant care and customer service.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Supervising the daily operation of the plant area and shop, ensuring products are well presented, fully stocked and maintained to a high standard
- Carrying out and overseeing plant care, including watering, feeding and general maintenance to keep stock healthy and sale-ready.
- Creating attractive retail displays, supporting seasonal promotions and ensuring products are accurately priced and labelled.
- Receiving deliveries, monitoring stock levels and maintaining accurate stock records using our EPOS system.
- Delivering exceptional customer service, providing expert advice on plants, gardening and related products.
- Supervising and supporting the plant area and shop team by allocating daily tasks, leading by example and helping maintain high standards throughout the department.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Supporting the wider garden centre team during busy trading periods and assisting with the smooth day-to-day operation of the business.
- Work closely with the management team to ensure the department operates smoothly.
Key Skills & Requirements
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in a plant-focused garden centre, nursery or horticultural retail environment.
- Good knowledge of plants, gardening and horticultural products.
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience, with the ability to motivate and support others.
- Experience using EPOS systems and stock management processes.
- Excellent customer service skills and confidence in advising customers on plant selection and gardening.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A positive, hands-on approach and a genuine passion for plants and delivering an outstanding customer experience.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices within a retail environment.
