Job Summary
You will be responsible for ensuring our fleet remains safe, reliable and fully compliant with DVSA requirements. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the workshop while carrying out inspections, servicing, diagnostics and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) to DVSA standards.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Service, maintain and repair PSV and HGV vehicles.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and carry out any required rectification work.
- Ensure all maintenance records and inspection paperwork are completed accurately.
- Plan and manage workshop schedules to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Order parts and manage workshop stock.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop.
- Ensure the fleet remains fully compliant with DVSA maintenance standards.
- Support and supervise workshop staff where required.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 NVQ/HVQ (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience maintaining and repairing PSV or HGV vehicles.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of engines, gearboxes, braking systems, suspension, steering, electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Experience carrying out and signing off Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs).
- Good understanding of DVSA roadworthiness and compliance requirements.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
Desirable Qualifications
- IRTEC Inspection Technician accreditation.
- PCV and/or HGV driving licence.
- Previous workshop management or supervisory experience.
- Experience using FleetCheck or other fleet maintenance software.
