Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Window Fitter to join our successful family run business. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, replacing, and repairing windows in a variety of residential and commercial buildings. This role requires a strong understanding of construction principles, excellent craftsmanship, and the ability to work safely and efficiently on-site. The position offers an excellent opportunity for a fully qualified fitter, with checkable references and a minimum of 8 years in the trade. Wage is dependent on experience and skills.
Duties
- Measure and prepare window openings to ensure precise fitting and sealing
- Install new windows according to technical specifications and schematics
- Remove old or damaged windows carefully, ensuring minimal damage to surrounding structures
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised fabrication equipment to carry out installations
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and building standards
- Assist with the preparation of surfaces through plastering or masonry work as needed
- Conduct quality checks on completed installations to guarantee durability and aesthetic standards
- Collaborate with other trades such as roofing, carpentry, or masonry teams during multi-disciplinary projects
- Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout each project
Skills
- Proven experience in window fitting
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment essential for precise installation work
- Ability to read technical drawings/ surveys accurately
- Strong understanding of construction processes including masonry, plastering, and carpentry/
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and safety procedures
- Physical fitness to handle lifting heavy materials and work at heights when necessary
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients
- Must have a full uk clean driving liscence
