This is a self-employed position working four hours per day, five days per week. The working days and hours can be discussed, although some flexibility may be required to meet the needs and interests of our residents.
The role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering a varied programme of activities that supports residents’ wellbeing, independence and social engagement. Activities may include arts and crafts, quizzes, games, music, gentle exercise, gardening, baking, themed events and individual one-to-one sessions.
You will spend time getting to know each resident, including their interests, background and preferences, so activities can be made enjoyable and meaningful for them. You will also encourage residents who may be less confident or unable to participate in larger group activities.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Preparing a weekly activities programme
- Organising seasonal celebrations and special events
- Supporting residents to maintain hobbies and interests

- Working with care staff and relatives to gather activity ideas
- Ensuring activities are safe and suitable for residents’ individual needs
- Helping create a warm, positive and lively atmosphere within the home
About you
We are looking for someone who is kind, patient, reliable and comfortable spending time with older people. You should be able to use your own initiative and bring new ideas to the role.
Previous experience in a care home, activities role or working with older people would be helpful, but it is not essential. The right attitude, personality and commitment to improving residents’ daily lives are most important.
