The Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support the day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration activities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing
transactions, and supporting the finance team in ensuring timely reporting, reconciliations, and audit
readiness across the business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Maintain accurate, well-organised, and up-to-date financial records.
- Process and track invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and expense claims.
- Support accounts payable activities, including supplier payments and refunds.
- Assist with payroll administration and related financial processing.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare financial records and supporting documentation for audits.
- Ensure financial records comply with company procedures and relevant financial regulations.
- Identify errors, missing information, or irregularities and escalate appropriately.
- Use accounting and finance software to input, manage, and retrieve financial data.
- Support continuous improvement of finance administration processes.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or bookkeeping role.
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls.
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of numerical accuracy.
- Well organised, reliable, and able to manage routine tasks effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
- Experience in construction, engineering, or project-based environments is an advantage.
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application.
