Chef de Partie / Senior Chef
Kumquat
Kumquat is an independent, award-winning modern Asian restaurant led by Chef Patron Alex Boyd. Our cooking is driven by flavour, precision, and technique, drawing on classical training and contemporary Asian influences. We are proud to be recognised as Asian Fusion Restaurant of the Year, listed in the Top 100 Asian Restaurants in the UK, and holders of two AA Rosettes.
We are now looking to welcome an experienced and committed chef to join our kitchen team.
The Role
This is a hands-on role for a chef who takes pride in their craft and understands the responsibility that comes with working in a small, ambitious, high-quality kitchen.
You will:
- Work with premium ingredients and bold Asian flavour profiles
- Execute dishes with consistency, care, and attention to detail
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety
- Be part of a close-knit team where standards matter and effort is noticed
- Contribute positively to a calm, professional kitchen environment
About You
This role is not suitable for students or entry-level applicants. We are looking for someone mature, reliable, and experienced.
You will ideally:
- Have previous experience in a quality restaurant kitchen
- Understand service flow, prep discipline, and time management
- Be comfortable working evenings and weekends (essential)
- Take ownership of your section and your responsibilities
- Care deeply about what you put on the plate
An interest in Asian cuisine is important. A willingness to learn, refine technique, and push standards is essential.
What We Offer
- A professional, respectful working environment
- The opportunity to work with an experienced Chef Patron
- Clear standards, structure, and expectations
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Staff meals and fair service charge participation
- Time off on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day
This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who wants stability, pride in their work, and to be part of a serious, growing restaurant rather than a transient kitchen.
