Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential
Home Location: Erith (Slade Green Area)
Salary: Dependent on experience and Qualification
Hours: Full-time (mix office and floor shifts, including monthly on-call rota)

About the Role - Cherry Care Children’s Homes are seeking a committed, resilient, and child-focused
Deputy Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day running of our children’s residential home. The home provides high-quality care and support for young people with Learning Disabilities and behavioural needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal development. As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to lead the team, maintain regulatory compliance, and promote a nurturing, therapeutic environment where young people can thrive. You will work a mixture of shift on floor and in office.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall management of the home
- Lead, supervise, and mentor residential care staff
- Promote positive outcomes for children and young people in line with individual care plans
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including standards set by Ofsted
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies
- Assist with staff recruitment, training, and performance management
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide management cover when required
- Maintain accurate records and ensure high standards of documentation
- managing shift when on floor.
Requirements Essential:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting
- Experience supervising or leading a team
- Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
- Experience working with children with complex emotional or behavioural needs
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Experience supporting homes through inspections
