The Opportunity
The 1851 Group is a privately held Hampshire-based portfolio business made up of complementary companies operating across mechanical and electrical building services, specialist joinery, construction, real estate, hospitality and leisure.
You will support marketing, communications and business administration across the portfolio. Working closely with the Group Sales & Marketing Director, you will gain exposure to a range of sectors and build experience that would take far longer to develop in a more traditional single-employer role.
This is a Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketer trainee programme, offering a formal qualification alongside practical commercial experience. It will suit someone who is organised, curious and comfortable managing multiple priorities, and who takes pride in producing accurate, professional work.

What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will cover five main areas. As you develop in the role, the balance of your work will evolve.
Social Media Management
– Manage and develop the social media presence of group companies across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and other relevant platforms.
– Plan, create and schedule content tailored to each company’s brand identity and target audience.
– Monitor engagement, track performance against agreed metrics and provide regular reporting.
Website Content & Digital Presence
– Help maintain and update company websites, ensuring content is accurate, relevant and visually consistent.
– Research, write and publish blog posts, news articles, project updates and case studies.
– Support search engine optimisation (SEO) and wider content development activities.
Case Studies, Copywriting & Collateral
– Research and produce project case studies that showcase the Group’s work clearly and effectively.
– Support the preparation of brochures, capability statements, presentations and marketing materials.
– Maintain a consistent tone of voice across written communications, adapting it to each company and audience.
– Support operational teams by collating and presenting non-technical information for proposals and tender submissions.
Photography, Videography & Visual Assets
– Capture and manage photography and video content from projects, operational sites and company events.
– Maintain an organised library of visual assets, ensuring materials are readily accessible across the Group.
– Produce short-form content suitable for digital platforms, working within agreed brand guidelines.
Business Support & Administration
– Maintain CRM systems, customer databases and marketing records to a high standard of accuracy.
– Assist with the preparation of presentations, management reports and business information.
– Coordinate marketing materials, literature and document libraries across group companies.
– Support the organisation of customer communications, events and exhibitions.
– Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Group Sales & Marketing Director and wider teams.
– Assist in gathering project information, client testimonials and reference material to support future bids and proposals.
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for someone fully formed. We are looking for strong foundations: a willingness to learn, a professional attitude and the discipline to manage competing demands without losing sight of quality. The following will help you stand out:
– Clear and confident written communication.
– An eye for detail and a pride in producing work that is accurate, well-presented and on-brand.
– Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across different companies.
– A practical, can-do approach with the initiative to progress work without constant direction.
– Genuine interest in marketing, communications or business, whether through study, personal projects or work experience.
– Familiarity with social media platforms from a content or audience perspective, not merely as a personal user.
– A collaborative and professional manner, as you will work with a range of teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
