Our client is looking for a Design and Manufacturing Engineer who wants to turn ideas into real performance products. In this role, you will take automotive components from a blank CAD screen through prototype, test, refinement and production. There would also be work on improving and re-engineering existing parts and internal manufacturing processes, working hands-on with the products and processes you design.
You'll work on projects including:
· Carbon fibre airboxes and induction systems
· Performance intake systems
· Direct-replacement panel filters
· Competition and motorsport filters
· Universal performance products
· 3D-printed prototypes and development components
· Tooling, fixtures and production solutions
· Completely new product and manufacturing concepts
You will not just hand over drawings. You will design, prototype, fit, test, refine and help put your work into production, seeing your ideas become real products used by performance and motorsport customers.

As our client continues to expand its product range and engineering capability, we're looking for another talented engineer to help develop what comes next.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You will take ownership of both new product development projects and internal process development on existing parts, from initial concept through to production, using in-house tools and working closely with the team to create leading aftermarket performance solutions.
Typical responsibilities will include:
· Creating detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies in Onshape
· Producing accurate 2D engineering/manufacturing drawings
· Complex surface modelling for carbon fibre airboxes and intake systems
· Designing complete performance induction systems
· Developing direct-replacement filters and new filter applications
· Working with 3D scan data and reverse-engineered components
· Creating and evaluating rapid prototypes
· Designing brackets, heat shields, adaptors, ducting and associated components
· Supporting airflow and performance testing
· Improving designs following test results
· Re-engineering and improving existing parts for performance, cost or manufacturability
· Designing tooling, fixtures and production aids
· Supporting New Product Introduction
· Developing and improving internal manufacturing processes
· Solving production and manufacturing problems, working closely with production to keep designs practical and manufacturable
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Our client is more interested in what you can design, solve and create than what's written on your CV, no specific qualifications are required, competency is what counts. That said, the role does need strong core engineering skills.
Essential
· 3D CAD in Onshape - Confident creating accurate components and assemblies; Onshape experience preferred, though strong experience in another major CAD package is welcome.
· 2D Engineering Drawings - Able to produce clear, production-ready drawings.
· Surface Modelling - Particularly important. Confident creating and manipulating complex surfaces for carbon fibre airboxes, intake ducts and similar components.
· Design for Manufacture - A great-looking CAD model is useless if we can't manufacture it; you understand how designs translate into real components.
· Practical Engineering Ability - You understand how components fit together, how things are manufactured, and how to turn a design into something that works in the real world. Hands-on approach essential.
· Problem Solving - Comfortable testing ideas, identifying problems and improving designs when development doesn't go perfectly first time.
· Adaptability - Comfortable with shifting priorities in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
· Full UK Driving Licence - Essential, as you'll be working with development vehicles.
