Role Purpose
The Integration Tester is responsible for assuring the quality, reliability, and performance of system integrations across Iceland's technology landscape. The role focuses primarily on API and integration testing, ensuring data is processed accurately and reliably between applications, services, and third-party platforms.
Working closely with developers, architects, Business Analysts, project teams, and business stakeholders, the Integration Tester designs, executes, and automates testing activities across complex integration solutions. The role also contributes to the continuous improvement of testing frameworks, processes, and standards within the Integration Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute integration testing activities for projects, enhancements, and production support initiatives.
- Develop and maintain API, integration, regression, and non-functional test suites.
- Perform advanced API testing using Postman or similar tools, validating data transformation, authentication, error handling, and business rules.
- Develop and maintain automated testing solutions using tools such as Postman, Playwright, and Appium.
- Validate complex synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
- Analyse business and technical requirements to identify testing scope, risks, and dependencies.
- Create and maintain test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test documentation.
- Conduct data validation and reconciliation across integrated systems.
- Drive defect management activities from identification through to resolution.
- Provide accurate test estimates, planning input, status reporting, and risk assessments.
- Support performance, load, resilience, and break testing activities where required.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve solution quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Participate in solution design discussions and provide quality-focused recommendations.
- Support and mentor Junior Integration Testers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across testing processes, tooling, and standards.
- Support project releases and post-deployment verification activities.
Technical Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in integration testing.
- Strong API testing experience using Postman or similar API testing tools.
- Experience creating and maintaining automated API test suites.
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Appium, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, Web Services, JSON, and integration technologies.
- Understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
- Experience using GitHub or similar source control/version management platforms.
- Experience using Azure DevOps or similar Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools for test management, work item tracking, and defect management.
- Experience creating test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test reports.
- Experience performing regression and integration testing across complex systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience using Grafana or similar monitoring and observability platforms.
- Experience analysing logs, metrics, and application telemetry to support testing and defect investigation.
- Experience with Azure Integration Services.
- Experience testing event-driven architectures.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
- SQL and database validation experience.
