Housekeeper – The Copley Arms, Hessenford
Minimum 20 hours per week | Permanent position | Additional hours available during busy seasons
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking Housekeeper to join our team at The Copley Arms in Hessenford.
This is an important role within the pub. Our guest bedrooms and the overall appearance of the Copley are a big part of the experience we give our guests, so we're looking for someone who takes pride in making sure everything is clean, comfortable and looking its best.
You'll mainly be responsible for looking after our guest bedrooms, as well as helping to keep the public areas of the pub clean and welcoming.
A little about us
The Copley Arms is a traditional country pub in the village of Hessenford in South East Cornwall, offering good food, local drinks, comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome.
We're proud to be a proper local pub – somewhere people can pop in for a pint, enjoy a meal, stay the night or spend an afternoon in the garden.
We're currently growing our team, so it's a great time to join us. We're a small independent business where people know each other, everyone plays their part and we want people to enjoy coming to work.
What will you be doing?
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning and preparing our guest bedrooms to a high standard
- Changing beds and preparing rooms for new arrivals
- Cleaning bathrooms and replenishing guest supplies
- Making sure bedrooms are welcoming, comfortable and well presented
- Cleaning and maintaining the public areas of the pub
- Keeping on top of linen and housekeeping supplies
- Reporting any maintenance issues or problems you spot
- Helping make sure everything is ready for our arriving guests
It's a hands-on role, so we're looking for someone who is happy to get stuck in and can work efficiently while still paying attention to the little details.
Who are we looking for?
Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience would be helpful, but finding the right person is more important to us.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and well organised
- Friendly and approachable
- Someone who takes pride in doing a job properly
- Able to work independently and manage their time
- Naturally tidy with good attention to detail
- Happy to work as part of a small, friendly team
- Able to spot when something needs doing and get on with it
If you haven't worked in hotel or pub housekeeping before but you're organised, hardworking and take pride in keeping things looking great, we'd still be very happy to hear from you.
Hours
The position is for a minimum of 20 hours per week, with additional hours available during our busier seasons.
Housekeeping shifts are predominantly daytime, although the rota will include weekends and bank holidays, as these are naturally some of our busiest times.
This could suit someone looking for the security of regular part-time hours throughout the year, with the opportunity to pick up more hours during our busy periods.
We'll do our best to provide a sensible, well-planned rota and a working environment where people feel part of the team.
