The Basics
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 pa (Band 3)
Usually reports to: Regional Programme Lead
Regional Team: North West
Location: Merseyside (daily travel to delivery sites in and some working from home)
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week (including 2 evenings per week until 9pm)
Please note: We are a place-based organisation and are keen to build a team rooted in the communities we serve. We are therefore looking for people who live in or near to the areas we work in.
Essential: Level 2 qualification in sports coaching, youth work or equivalent, plus a valid driving licence or reliable access to transport.
Responsibilities
Delivery
- Deliver our suite of interventions across term time, evenings (up to around 9pm), holidays, post-16 provision, and, in some areas, youth offending institutions (YOI), plus any ad hoc work as the programme develops
- Develop session plans in line with our curriculum, going beyond the standard structure to meet each young person's individual needs and ensure strong outcomes
- Deliver one-to-one and group mentoring as a core strand of our programmes
- Build trusted adult relationships with the young people you work with
- Lead on communications with your assigned schools, and plan and coordinate sessions with schools, provisions, and other delivery venues
- Lead the organisation and delivery of trips, tournaments, Career Taster Days, and holiday programmes in the schools you lead on
- Support post-16 young people with practical next steps, such as getting back into education, applying for jobs and interviews, and accessing training
- Adapt creatively to changing environments and different groups of young people
- Use our web-based Player Profiles app as a core part of tracking and supporting young people's development
Reporting and compliance
- Collect all impact data accurately and efficiently, including baseline and end point surveys, registration and consent forms, and other data as required
- Upload session data to UpShot within 24 hours of each session
- Follow our safeguarding processes at all times, reporting incidents and concerns as required and maintaining professional boundaries with young people
- Complete risk assessments, including dynamic risk assessments for every session and activity
- Create case studies to help share the impact of our work
Supporting the wider organisation
- Contribute to project groups and internal meetings, staying connected with the wider team
- Participate in team meetings, training, the annual training week and support events where needed
- Contribute content for social media and help run a local account
- Support funding bids and regional networking and partnerships where necessary
- As a small charity, we all pitch in beyond our core roles from time to time, so take on other ad hoc duties as they arise
