The Bear at Tattenhall is an independent pub, restaurant and rooms in the heart of Cheshire.We’re building The Bear around a simple ambition: excellent modern British food, a serious drinks programme and warm, genuine hospitality without unnecessary formality.As we develop the business, we’re looking for an experienced hospitality professional to strengthen our Front of House team.This is a hands-on role. We’re looking for someone who loves being on the floor, understands what great service looks like and can take responsibility for a busy shift when required.The roleWorking alongside our management and supervisory team, you’ll be an important part of delivering and developing the guest experience at The Bear.Your responsibilities will include:
- Running a restaurant section confidently
- Leading shifts and supporting the Manager on Duty
- Hosting and managing the guest journey
- Helping organise sections and service
- Delivering knowledgeable food and beverage service
- Making confident food, wine and drinks recommendations
- Handling guest requests and resolving issues appropriately
- Supporting pre-service briefings and preparation
- Training and supporting junior members of the team
- Maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness and presentation
- Working closely with the kitchen throughout service
- Supporting opening and closing procedures
- Supporting private dining, weddings, functions and events
Who we’re looking forYou may already be a Supervisor or Shift Leader, or you might be an excellent waiter, bartender or restaurant professional ready to take the next step.We’re more interested in ability and attitude than job titles.You’ll need to be:
- A confident and natural host
- Experienced in quality restaurant, pub or hotel service
- Comfortable taking responsibility during busy services
- Calm, organised and positive under pressure
- Interested in good food, wine and drinks
- Comfortable giving direction and supporting less experienced team members
- Willing to remain hands-on throughout service
- Reliable and available for evenings and weekends
Wine, cocktail, bar or hotel experience would be an advantage but isn’t essential.What we offer
