Overview
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of production operations during the PM shift, ensuring delivery of output in line with production plans, quality standards, GMP requirements, and safety expectations.The PM Shift Supervisor leads the backshift team and is accountable for delivering shift performance across output, efficiency, waste, and quality. The role ensures the smooth operation of production during PM hours and provides clear handover of operational performance and issues to the day shift team. The role also holds responsibility for maintaining equipment reliability during shift through first-line maintenance, fault-finding, and machine adjustments to minimise downtime and support continuous production.
Duties
- Lead and supervise all production activities during the PM shift, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient site operations.
- Deliver the shift production plan, ensuring output, efficiency, waste, and quality targets are achieved.
- Allocate work effectively across the team, managing labour, rotation, and daily priorities to maximise performance.
- Maintain full compliance with GMP, SOPs, hygiene, quality systems, and health & safety standards.
- Monitor shift performance and proactively address issues relating to output, downtime, waste, and equipment performance.
- Undertake basic maintenance, fault-finding, and machine adjustments to minimise downtime and sustain production flow.
- Support equipment setup, line changeovers, and operational readiness to ensure smooth shift transitions.
- Ensure all production records are completed accurately and on time, including MRP transactions, pallet tracking, and barcode/label updates.
- Communicate shift performance, risks, maintenance issues, and handover information clearly and effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Lead, support, and develop team members, including training on equipment, GMP, safety, and standard operating procedures.
- Manage shift issues including incidents, near misses, return-to-work processes, and conduct or performance concerns.
- Drive continuous improvement activity focused on efficiency, reliability, safety, and waste reduction.
Experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing supervision or a similar leadership role within an industrial environment.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to assembly lines, equipment maintenance, and process optimisation.
- Experience in implementing process improvements, quality control measures, and safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of GMP, hygiene, quality systems, and production processes.
- Experience supervising small teams and managing production performance on shift.
- Ability to manage operational issues independently in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using MRP or production reporting systems.
Pay: £32,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
