As we continue to grow and develop our installation team, we’re looking for an experienced and motivated Audio Visual Engineer to join our team.
The Role
As an Audio Visual Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, commissioning and fault-finding a wide range of audio visual and smart home systems, primarily within high-end residential properties.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role suited to someone who enjoys practical installation work, technical problem-solving and working with a wide range of AV and technology systems.
You will work as part of a team but will also be expected to work independently when required, taking responsibility for your work and ensuring installations are completed to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure and commission audio visual and smart home systems, including Control4, networks and Wi-Fi, CCTV, intercoms, lighting control, shading/blind systems and media spaces
- Install and mount TVs, speakers and other AV equipment
- Carry out data cable termination and structured cabling work
- Build, install and dress equipment racks
- Configure and troubleshoot network equipment
- Program and configure control systems
- Read and work from wiring diagrams, schematics and installation information
- Maintain accurate system documentation
- Provide technical support and assistance to customers and other members of the engineering team
- Explain systems and their operation to customers when required
- Represent the company professionally at all times
- Ensure customers' homes and belongings are treated with care and respect
Required Skills & Experience
- Ideally around 3 years' relevant experience within the AV or smart home industry
- Strong practical installation skills and a hands-on approach
- Good knowledge and understanding of networking
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Experience installing and configuring AV equipment
- Ability to terminate data cables and carry out structured cabling work
- Comfortable mounting TVs, speakers and other equipment
- Good understanding of audio visual technology and systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Technically confident, with the ability to work independently when required
- Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites
- Comfortable working in high-end residential environments and around clients and other trades
Desirable Skills
- Control4 experience
- Networking qualifications (e.g. CCNA, PCNA)
- Experience with Lutron systems
- Experience with Rako lighting control
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Ensure safe working practices at all times, both on-site and in the workshop
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments before commencing work
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where required
- Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses promptly
- Ensure tools, equipment and company vehicles are maintained in safe working order
- Follow site-specific Health & Safety requirements and client protocols
- Work safely when using ladders and access equipment
- Be physically capable of safely lifting and handling equipment such as TVs, amplifiers and speakers
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £30,000–£38,000 per annum, depending on experience
