Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and dedicated Tearoom Assistant to join our welcoming team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service in a charming tearoom environment. This role involves assisting with food and beverage service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring guests have a memorable experience. Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food preparation is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. The position offers an opportunity to develop skills within a warm and supportive setting.
Duties
- Serve tea, coffee, and light refreshments to guests in a courteous and professional manner
- Assist with food preparation and presentation, ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene
- Take orders accurately and handle payments efficiently using the POS system
- Maintain cleanliness of the tearoom, including clearing tables, washing dishes, and sanitising surfaces
- Restock supplies such as cutlery, crockery, and ingredients as needed throughout the shift
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests and addressing any enquiries or special requests
- Support the team during busy periods by assisting with additional tasks such as setting up event spaces or preparing baked goods
- Follow food safety regulations diligently to ensure a safe environment for both staff and guests
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is desirable; restaurant or barista experience is a plus
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently when required
- Flexibility to work during peak times including weekends or special events if necessary
- A genuine interest in providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere
