CDOP Coordinator – Northern Lincolnshire Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP)
Given the unique and sensitive nature of this role, we strongly encourage prospective applicants to read the full role profile and person specification carefully before applying.
This is more than an administrative or coordination role. As the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) Coordinator, you will play a vital part in a statutory multi-agency process that seeks to understand why children die, identify learning, and help prevent future deaths.
Working with partners across health, police, education and social care, you will support sensitive and meaningful reviews that place bereaved families at the heart of learning and improvement. As part of a small, supportive and dedicated team, you will help ensure reviews are managed professionally, compassionately and to the highest standards.
We are looking for an organised, detail-focused and compassionate individual who can manage sensitive information with care, build positive relationships across agencies, and contribute to work that makes a genuine difference to children, families and communities across Northern Lincolnshire. If you are passionate about improving outcomes and want to be part of work that has a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you.
What is the role all about?
As the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the Northern Lincolnshire Child Death Review process, working across both North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire local authority areas.
Reporting directly to the CDOP Manager and supported by an experienced CDOP Administrator, you will join a small, dedicated and highly supportive team committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate and learning-focused practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Coordinating the Child Death Review process in line with national statutory guidance.

This work is undoubtedly sensitive and emotionally impactful. It involves supporting a process that reviews the deaths of children and young people, often during some of the most difficult circumstances families and professionals will ever experience.
At the heart of the role is a commitment to learning, improvement and prevention. While challenging, the work is also incredibly meaningful and rewarding.
As part of the wider Child Death Review system, you will contribute to a process that:

- Identifies themes, trends and modifiable factors.
- Helps improve services, systems and professional practice.
- Contributes to local and national efforts to prevent future child deaths.
- Makes a genuine difference to the lives of children, young people and families.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an individual who combines professionalism and attention to detail with compassion, emotional resilience and a genuine desire to make a difference.
You will bring:
-
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong analytical and information-management abilities.
- The ability to communicate confidently and professionally with a wide range of partners.
- Experience of working collaboratively across organisations and disciplines.
- High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
- A commitment to confidentiality, information governance and sensitive practice.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to manage potentially distressing information in a professional manner.
- Strong report-writing and presentation skills.
- A proactive approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
Experience within safeguarding, public health, healthcare, social care, education or children's services would be advantageous. However, we also welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills who can demonstrate the values, attributes and commitment required for this unique role.
Why join us?
This is far more than an administrative coordination role. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to understanding the circumstances surrounding child deaths, drive meaningful learning, and help shape improvements that can make a lasting difference for children, young people and families.
You will join a supportive team where collaboration, wellbeing, professional development and high-quality practice are valued. The role offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of professionals across health, local authorities, police and other partner agencies, building relationships that influence real change across the system.
If you are passionate about improving outcomes for children and families, thrives on organisation and attention to detail, and wants to contribute to work that has a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you.
