We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Project Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in project engineering within the food, beverage, brewery, distillery, dairy and pharmaceutical industries.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain hands-on experience in managing engineering projects from initial enquiry through to installation and commissioning. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of stainless steel process systems, pipework, vessels and bespoke engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Engineers with the delivery of engineering projects.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare project documentation, schedules and progress reports.
- Produce and update equipment lists, material schedules and procurement documentation.
- Obtain supplier quotations and raise purchase orders.
- Monitor project costs and assist with budget tracking.
- Coordinate fabrication and installation activities with the workshop and site teams.
- Attend customer meetings and site visits when required.
- Assist with commissioning and project handovers.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
- Maintain project files and quality documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- HNC/HND, Degree or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of process engineering or mechanical installation.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Previous experience within manufacturing or engineering.
- Understanding of stainless steel fabrication or pipework systems.
