Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Nights Supervisor for our Yard and Wash Plant operations. In this vital leadership role, you will oversee the efficient functioning of the yard and wash plant during nighttime hours, ensuring safety, productivity, and smooth logistics flow. Your expertise will help coordinate materials handling, process improvements, and team management to meet operational goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team while maintaining high standards of safety and quality in a fast-paced environment. 4 on 4 off shift pattern
Responsibilities
- Supervise night shift activities in the yard and wash plant, ensuring all operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Coordinate materials handling processes including loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving using forklifts and other equipment.
- Manage logistics workflows to optimize space utilization, inventory accuracy, and timely deliveries.
- Lead and motivate a team of workers, providing guidance on safety procedures, operational tasks, and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies by conducting regular inspections and safety audits.
- Utilize warehouse management systems & platforms to track inventory movements, shipments, and documentation accuracy.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate shipping schedules and resolve any logistical issues promptly.
- Oversee heavy lifting operations and mechanical maintenance needs within the yard and wash plant areas.
Skills
- Proven experience in yard management systems (YMS), logistics coordination, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of materials handling equipment such as forklifts and other heavy machinery.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff during night shifts.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, heavy lifting protocols, and process improvement strategies.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining safety standards.
- Good communication skills for effective coordination across departments and with external partners.
- Must have drivers license/own transport to reliably get to site.
Pay: £34,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
