We are recruiting for Duty Officer & Building Support with Children and Young People – Disability Service who could undertake a range of tasks to ensure the safe and smooth running of activities at our busy centre.
You will be responsible for opening and closing the building, carrying out a range of building support and administrative tasks, including ordering equipment and undertaking food safety checks. You will also provide reception cover, welcoming visitors and responding to general enquiries in a professional and friendly manner.
The candidates should have a basic knowledge of safeguarding for children and adults and hold a First Aid qualification or be willing to complete First Aid training.
We are looking for someone with a strong customer service ethos, the ability to work on their own initiative, and a proactive, positive, and energetic approach to their work. A 'can-do' attitude and excellent people skills are essential.
Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 4:30-9:00pm (43 weeks per year), plus 2 Saturdays per month 8am-5pm (including 30m unpaid break)
Salary: £13.45 per hour/ Pro-rata: £15,756 per annum (FTE: £24,479 per annum)
Key responsibilities:
- Opening and closing of the Sovereign Centre and ensure the safety of the area in adherence with YMCA procedures.
- Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed, i.e. fire evacuation, safety of facility users, assisting with any accidents that occur and giving first aid if needed.
- Following YMCA safeguarding policy to ensure that vulnerable adults and young people are properly protected.
- Assisting with reception duties including taking payments for activities, answering visitor enquiries and promoting YMCA services.
- Carry out regular food safety and hygiene checks, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant requirements.
- Help ensure that the main office and reception area operates, at all times, to the highest possible professional standard.
- Ensure the visitor policy is complied with, safe entries of visitors or contactors, recording and issue of badges and door fobs.
- Identifying any maintenance needs and logging requests, progressing outstanding works and overseeing any works being undertaken when on site.
- Maintain supplies of the centre’s cleaning and household products by running efficient stock control and cost-effective purchasing of supplies.
- Re-stocking and purchasing of first aid supplies, keeping all kits full and in date.
- Ensuring DO pack, PEEP forms and building risk assessments are reviewed and are up to date.
- Keeping Sovereign building paperwork and on-line folders safe, secure and up to date.
- To support and promote all services which run from centre as required.
