About the Role
A successful visitor attraction depends on much more than what is on display. Public areas need to be ready before opening, staff need clear priorities, events need coordination, safety checks must be completed, and visitors expect problems to be resolved quickly without disrupting their experience.
As a Museum Operations Supervisor, you will coordinate the day-to-day operation of a heritage and visitor site, helping ensure public areas, facilities, staff activities, and scheduled events operate safely and efficiently.
The role combines visitor services with practical site management. You may start the day checking that galleries and public areas are ready to open, coordinate staff coverage during a busy school visit, respond to a facilities issue, and later prepare operational arrangements for an upcoming exhibition or community event.

- Supervise front-of-house and operational staff during scheduled shifts.
- Allocate staff duties according to visitor numbers, events, and operational priorities.

- Respond to visitor enquiries, complaints, and service issues professionally.
- Coordinate arrangements for exhibitions, school visits, workshops, and community events.
- Complete routine site inspections and report maintenance or facilities issues.

- Assist with cash-handling or retail procedures where required.
- Prepare routine operational reports covering visitor activity, incidents, and site issues.
- Support staff inductions and practical training for new team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve visitor flow and day-to-day site operations.
