Overview

The successful candidate will provide key technical support to our fire engineering and surveying teams, as well as to clients across Ireland and the UK. At BB7 , we pride ourselves on delivering prompt responses and high-quality, technically robust reports that our clients can rely on.
The role will involve carrying out on-site fire inspections and surveys during both construction and operational phases. You will also contribute to external wall assessments for new builds and refurbishment projects, including fire stopping and compartmentation surveys, Part M inspections , fire door inspections, and occasional fire risk assessments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys of active and passive fire protection systems and prepare detailed technical reports
- Conduct Part M surveys and prepare associated inspection reports
- Assess compliance with Irish fire safety legislation and relevant standards (e.g. Technical Guidance Document B (TGD-B), BS 9991, BS 9999, and associated Irish/British Standards)
- Contribute to the ongoing development of internal expertise in passive fire protection
- Attend site inspections throughout construction to monitor compliance with Fire Safety Certificate designs, in line with agreed inspection plans
- Prepare timely reports highlighting any compliance issues identified on site
Review contractor responses to observations raised and follow through to resolution
- Participate in inspections for licensed premises to support liquor licence applications
- Carry out external façade assessments in line with current industry standards
Provide third-party oversight of fire stopping and compartmentation installations
- Undertake visual inspections of fire doors
- Manage client relationships effectively, ensuring a high standard of service delivery
- Deliver in-house CPD sessions in your area of expertise when required
- Stay up to date with industry developments, guidance, and product information, sharing insights with the wider team
Travel regularly to client sites for surveys and meetings, including occasional overnight stays

Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent practical/site-based experience
- Full Irish driving licence and access to a private vehicle
- Basic understanding of fire safety design principles and guidance across various building types
- Experience with intrusive external wall surveys is advantageous but not essential, across a range of building types (e.g. high-rise residential, offices, retail, historic buildings)
- Experience in fire compartmentation surveys and advising contractors on fire stopping installations is desirable
- Ability to prepare clear technical reports using site data, with proficiency in relevant software and Microsoft Word
- Capable of working independently and managing workload effectively
- Willingness to learn and develop skills, making use of team knowledge and resources
- Familiarity with fire risk assessment processes is beneficial but not essential, along with a general awareness of risks within the built environment
- Understanding of construction methods, materials, and fire performance of external wall systems, including cavity barriers
- Knowledge of internal passive fire protection systems, fire testing standards, and manufacturer installation requirements
- Experience or understanding of refurbishment projects and working with contractors on-site
